Love letter for Trek
July 6, 2018
Dearest Matthew,
You are a joy to our family. I am so grateful for you and
the desires for good you have always had. I am so grateful for your kindness
and empathy. You have a true gift for connection to others and making them feel
like the most important person. Everyone needs that in their life and people
love you for it.
I am so grateful for your mission letters and the times you
shared with our family. We were inspired by your hard work to learn sign
language and most importantly to really communicate with the deaf.
What a gift
you gave so many who didn’t have many people who could be bothered to really
communicate with them when it was hard. I was so impressed with your
inspiration to walk away from your mission call to the deaf and serve the English
speaking as well. I loved your ability to see the Lord’s work where ever you
were rather than getting bogged down in the details.
I am so happy with your choice of Hannah. She is so good. I
use that word in the sense that it is used by the Lord to describe each day of
creation and the rightness of each day’s work. I think it is interesting that
the Lord doesn’t have to use big flowery words when “good” will do. Hannah in
every way is just perfect for you. I see your marriage and family being such a
place of great happiness. I love that.
You asked me for financial advice and I have been trying to
learn from good mentors so I have something to share with you. One thing that
really inspired me lately was something Dave Ramsey said, “Your biggest wealth building tool is your income”. He goes
on to say that most millionaires built that from their income. I have been
thinking about what that means to our family and how we need to start treating
our income as the wealth building tool that it is rather than just a way to pay
the bills and eat more than we should.
I am so excited to see the many successes and joys in your
life and look forward to continue being proud of you for many years to come. Thank
you for being an example of this scripture 3 John 1: 4.
Love you forever and ever
Mom
